Sylvia is an editor, librarian and researcher specializing in the field of drug information. Her work has focused on raising awareness of how the language used to describe psychoactive drugs and experiences can deeply affect the thoughts and actions of others, with a significant impact on individual and societal understandings of drug use, misuse, and abuse.

As Senior Editor with Erowid.org Center, she has reviewed over 20,000 experience reports written about hundreds of different psychoactive plants, chemicals, and technologies, by people from all walks of life. The monumental effort at Erowid curates a free on line reference that has offered millions of users (psychonaughts, medical professionals, and researchers) a comprehensive crowd sourced index providing information on dose, duration, drug combinations and subjective effects.
