Silvia Polivoy

Silvia lives and practices in Itacare, Brazil. She has been investigating modified states of consciousness for thirty years. Silvia has worked extensively with Ayahuasca, San Pedro cactus and other sacred plants in their native habitats. She studied in Mexico with Mazatec shamans.

Silvia has a postgraduate degree in clinical psychology. For more than 20 years she had a private practice in Buenos Aires, starting with psychoanalysis and later transactional analysis and transpersonal psychology. She soon began to explore shamanism and spiritual practices.

Since 1996, she has been hosting retreats in both the Peruvian and the Brazilian Amazon. At these retreats participants have the opportunity to “meet” the ancient plant teacher ayahuasca in it’s natural environment – the jungle.

Historically, most South American shamans are men. Silvia is one of the first women to offer ethical leadership for ayahuasca sessions.

In 2004, Silvia co-founded The Vine Spiritual Center in the Atlantic forest of Bahia, Brazil. The Vine Center has pioneered the use of ayahuasca in a trans-denominational context for non-native peoples. The Center offers a healing environment where safety is their main priority.

Silvia’s work focuses on the spiritual realm, integrating her expertise in psychology, modified states of consciousness, shamanism, and spiritual practices.

Her current focus is to present an effective method for  conducting ayahuasca retreats for spiritual development and integration.
